Hanoi, Part 2

観光は全てが楽しい・・・ってわけではないのです。私もパートナーも嗜好が違ったりするものですから。（笑）女性は多分誰でもショッピングは好きでしょう！？男性は・・・？好きな人もいるだろうけど、ちなみにパートナーは嫌いです。（笑）彼の好む事は、飛行機、歴史、遺跡・・・などなど私とは違う所がたくさん。そんなわけで日替わりでお互いが好む所へ行ったわけです。

It isn't always true that sightseeing is fun for us. I think most women love (window) shopping, but how about men? At least my husband isn't interested in it. He loves airplanes, historical places and ruins. We sometime have some conflicts where we want to go, but we worked out very well. We each choose places to go on alternating days.


まずは、空軍博物館へ。入り口で大きなポスターがお出迎え。すごいです。で、建物に辿り着くまでにズラーーーーッとこの様にミグやら戦車等が展示されています。私にはさっぱりわかりません。が、パートナーは？もう、それはそれは、一つずつ丹念に見ておりました。

We came to Vietnamese Air Force Museum. A big propaganda poster welcomed us at the entrance. Then you can see a lot of different type of fighters and combats. Unfortunately, any fighters looked same to me, but when I looked for my husband, he was so serious and enjoyed seeing each one of them.

This is a transporter helicopter and you can see inside.












そして、やっと建物の中に入ると・・・。こんな風に銃や戦っていた時の写真、兵士達の持ち物等が至る所に飾られてました。Finally we reached at the building. There were many photos also solder's belongings and arms were displayed.

(Left) These flags were belonged to proletarians of the world unite. Fidel Castro and Che Guevara were on the photos. (Right) Vietnamese women also fought as well.

そして、最後にこれ！ミグ２１のコックピットが展示され操縦席に乗れ、操縦桿を握る事が出来るのです。この日は幼稚園児のツアーがあったみたいで、一人ずつ子供を操縦席に座らせて写真を先生達が撮っていました。で、もちろん！パートナーも乗りたい・・・んですよ。
この博物館もお昼は一度閉館してしまうらしく部屋はどんどん締められていく中、パートナーはしぶとくテーブルで待っていました。私は、もちろん全くといって興味がないので半ば呆れ気味。どうしてそんなに・・・って思うんだけど、飛行機が好きな人にとってはたまらないんでしょうね。きっと。

I think here is the main event..... This is the MIG 21. Everybody can get on the cockpit. Look at the above photo. The day we went, it looked like children excursion was held and each child got on the cockpit with a teacher then took a photo. Yes, it would take a long time to finish all routine so I just tried to leave a room, but when I looked at my husband, (YES, Of course) he wanted to ride and do same thing that the children did.



まるで幼稚園児とかわらないくらいにすごく幸せそうな顔をして楽しんでいました。（笑）
Finally, he did it!!! I took many photos of him and he looked very happy.... :-) It must be happiest moment in this trip.

Food in Hanoi

ベトナムと言えば、アオザイを着たきれいな女性達が自転車で颯爽と街を走っている・・・って感じだったんだけど。ウーーーン、残念。アオザイを着たお姉さんなんて街にはいませんでした。レストランとかホテルくらいでした。

Speaking of Vietnam remind me of women wear Aodai and ride bicycle beautifully, but I never seen in the town. They use Aodai as a uniform the hotels or restaurants.

レストランは何カ所か行きましたが、その中で印象に残った所を紹介したいと思います。
We went to couple of restaurants, but I would like to introduce one of my impressed restaurants.

＊「KOTO」と言うレストランではあるオーストラリアのツアーリーダーが路上で暮らす子供達にボランティアで料理の仕方、サービスの仕方を教えていきレストランを出すにまで至ったのです。そこで勉強した子供達には、海外のホテルからも仕事のオファーがあるそうです。

彼らにとってはすごく大きな生きるチャンスになったのではないでしょうか。

ここで働いてる子達は本当に若いんです。たぶん、１２、３歳くらいからだと思う。また、彼らのサービスの仕方は確かに普通のレストランとは違う、ホスピタリティを感じさせられるサービスで気持ちよかったです。

We went to the restaurant is called KOTO. It is very a unique restaurant. An Australian tour leader who befriended some street kids and decided to teach them to cook. A year later, an international chef, an enthusiastic staff and a group of keen learners opened the KOTO, "Know One Teach One," Restaurant. Guided by Australian teachers, these street kids produce great results. I can see they work very hard and have nice hospitality. Some kids seemed to have offers from 5 star hotels in the world. It is amazing story!

料理はどれも美味しかったです。

　　
特にパッションフルーツのケーキは、見た目もきれいだし味も程よい甘酸っぱさで美味しかった。All foods are good especially, passion fruit cake was very yummy.

＊ソフィテルメトロポールのスパイスガーデンというベトナムレストランでのランチビュッフェ。 Spice garden at Sofitel Metropole Hotel.

ここは値段もビュッフェの割にはお高いですが、雰囲気と料理を楽しむなら一度は行くべきだと思います。It is a little bit pricey, but we enjoyed lunch buffet and atmosphere.



目の前で料理を作ってくれます。（左）蒸し春巻きを作ってくれている。（右）フォーを作ってくれます。They cooked steam spring roll and noodles in front of us.

　　


チキンフォーはロンドンのカムデンのベトナム料理屋さんで食べてから病み付きになってしまいました。そしてここのチキンフォーも美味しかったです。でも、ここで初めてブンリューというトマトベースのフォーに出会いました。これが、美味しい！今回、私の中では一押しの食べ物でした。それがこれ！レタスがトッピングしてあるので分かりにくいですがフォーにトマトのスープがすごくマッチして驚きでした。

I love chicken pho since I ate at the Vietnamese restaurant in Camden Town, London. The soup includes noodles made from rice and is often served with basil, lime, bean sprouts and chill. Also you can add more flavor by yourself. I ate chicken pho and it was very nice. My husband ate Bun Rieu which was rice noodle with tomato broth and topped with shrimp paste. It was sooooo delicious. I would like to make it one day!
　

　　　

バインセオというベトナム風お好み焼き、ベトナム風クレープと呼ばれるそうですが、私はいまいち感動はなかったです。残念! I also ate Vietnamese savoury pancakes which is made out of rice flour, but it wasn't so impressive.

　


料理もさることながらデザートコーナーもかなり充実。Desserts are all delicious as well.

　

大満足のデザートでした。特にタルト系が甘過ぎず上品な大きさでよかったです。そしてゼリーもカスタードプリンも最高でした。（笑）パートナーはスィーツ大好きなのでかなり幸せだったようです。たしか、彼は全てのデザートを食べていたような・・・?! もちろん、ランチの後は、たくさん歩きましたよ。

I think my husband tried to eat all desserts. I liked tarts and custard pudding. They weren't too sweet and small portions so I felt I could eat more! Of course, we walked a lot after lunch.

Hanoi, Vietnam Part 1

ああ、気がつけば最後の投稿から１ヶ月も経ってしまった。（忙しかったんです。）
バンコク滞在中に１週間だけベトナムとアンコールワットに行ってきました。なのでその事を少し書きたいと思います。今回はハノイ編。

Oh noooo!!! I haven't updated my blog for a month. I was so busy while I was in Japan. Now I am trying to update what we did in our holiday. At first I would like to write about Hanoi in Vietnam.

ハノイはすごい所でした。何が・・・って騒音が。バイクは２人乗りは当たり前。ううん、３人なんて言うのもざらです。そして、クラクションを鳴らしながら走るのです。普通は、危険を感じた時にクラクションを使うでしょ？でも、ベトナムは違うみたい。もう、朝から晩までずーーーっとそんな感じなんです。
そして、道を渡る時も人間が優先なんて事はない。人間がバイクの合間を縫って渡る感じです。あまりリラックスが出来る国ではありませんでした。

First impression of Hanoi was so noisy place. I couldn't understand why bike riders used horn so often. When they turned corner or passed other bikes, they were tooting all the way. Unbelievable!!! Also it was very difficult to cross roads, too.

１日目は夕方に到着したのでとりあえずはホテルの周りをウロウロしてみました。ホアンキエム湖というのがありました。ホアンキエム湖があり、夜はイルミネーションで飾られてきれいでした。

First day, we arrived in the evening so we just walked around near our hotel. There was a big lake which was called Hoan Kiem Lake. It was beautifully decorated by illumination.

　

道の至る所で屋台やカフェがありそこには人がたくさん。たぶん、ベトナム人はうちで食事を作る事がないんじゃないかな？と思います。そして、笑える事が一つ。なぜかテーブルも椅子も小さい。椅子に関して言えば、お風呂屋さんでよく見るあの椅子なんです。それに座ってみんな食事。なんか不思議ですよね。見ている私の方が居心地悪かったです。（笑）

There were lot of street shops and their tables and chairs were very small. Especially, chairs that is normally used at the public bath in Japan, but they used them at the pavement. I also think they might not cook at home.

次の日はまたまた歩きで観光を開始。ベトナムは社会主義国なので歩いていると色々な所で目の当たりにします。まずはプロパガンダがすごいです。プロパガンダのポスターのお店がたくさんありました。

Next day, we hung around the town.



アンクルホー（ホーチミン初代首相）とベトナムでは親しみを込めて呼ばれているそうです。彼のポスターや戦争のポスターがありました。

私はあまりベトナムの歴史についてはあまり知りませんが誇れる事の１つにインドシナ戦争、ベトナム戦争があるようです。

We saw many propaganda in the town. Uncle Ho and the wars posters in shops.









パートナーが見たいと言っていた博物館へ。まずは陸軍博物館へ。（名前からしてすごいですよね。）入り口を入るとすぐにこんな感じでまさに戦争の足跡が。

２階建ての建物の中には戦車や戦いに使われたと思われる品々が展示してありました。フランスを攻めた時の策略やビデオが見れる部屋までありました。彼らにとっては誇りの品なんだと思います。でも、私の中では少し度が過ぎるような気がしました。

We also went to Army Museum. As soon as entering the museum, we saw a fort and a combat vehicle. Outside of building were all battle planes. There were two stories building and we saw many arms. Also we saw the video and map that how Vietnamese fought to French.

It was very different history that Japanese had so memory of war must be very proud of them. However, it was a bit too much for me. ( We also went to another museum which I would write next time.)

バンコク食事編/Food in Bangkok

2回ほどタイ料理を食べに行きました。１つはJWマリオット内にある 「ホワイトエレファント」でビュッフェ。ビュッフェは一人３５０バーツ（１０５０円）位かな？料理の種類も豊富でまたお値段もかなりお手頃。でもタイ料理 ではMSG（味の素）が使われている事が多く食べた後に喉が渇く事がしばしば。日本人は比較的MSGに慣れているので問題ないと思うけど、パートナーは少 し問題あり。この問題さえ取り除けばかなり本格的なタイ料理が食べられるのでお薦めです。

　

タイカレー（イエロー、グリーン）、サラダも数種、なぜか刺身のコーナーもあったり。
でも、私が一番好きなのはこれ！麺も色々な種類がありその中から好きなものを選び作ってもらいます。スパイスも自分で調整できるんです。

　

We've been to Thai restaurants twice. One is "White Elephant" at JW Mariott which has a lunch buffet. It costs about 350 bath ($11) and there are various type of food. Thai yellow / green curry, salad, sashimi, noodles that is my favourite dish. You can choose noodles, beef or chicken, then add spices. It was very delicious and I like this restaurant. But we have a small problem that most of restaurants in Thai use MSG so after eating, we become very thirsty.

次に行った場所はフォーシーズンホテルに入っている「スパイスマーケット」です。

The another restaurant is called "Spice Market" in Four seasons hotel. We ordered a set menu and two dishes.
セットメニューを１つと２品ほど単品で頼みました。
　
　

まずはタイのスナックとして出てきました。これは、葉っぱの上に干しえび、ピーナッツ、ライムなどを乗せ最後にナンプラーを垂らして巻いて食べます。美味！

This is called Thai snack. Put some dried shrimps, limes, peanuts and fish sauce on a leaf and roll them up. It is very nice snack. I love it.


　
　

ここまでが一人分のセットメニューです。量が多いだろうと思い一人分しかオーダーしなかったんだけどまさかここまで多いとは。大変満足しました。（笑）

そして、私の大好きなプラザアテネでのサンデービュッフェの様子を。一番目を引いたのがこれ。
Here is my favourite Sunday buffet at Plaza Athenee. There are a lot of gorgeous dishes. My eyes were drawn by Peking Duck...



北京ダック。見るからに美味しいそうな色合い。もちろん、いただきましたよ。言うまでもなく美味しかったです。もっと食べたい！って気にさせられるんだけど、何せここのビュッフェすごいんです。写真を見て楽しんでください。行きます!

オイスターコーナーもありました。


一口サイズでのタイ料理。


私が選んだものはこんな感じ。オイスター、キャビア、サーモンに生ハム。

ム。I chose some French oysters, caviar and proschiuto di Parma. I had to leave some space for desserts.







デザートコーナーが圧巻!
I hope you enjoy seeing these desserts. Most of chocolate desserts were used by Valrhona. How gorgeous they were. Of course, taste was wonderful!


すべてヴェローナのチョコが使用されケーキの種類も１０種類以上あったと思う。



そしてこのチョコーレトファウンテン。これは大人でも魅力のある一品ですよね。フルーツ、小さなシュークリームなどを棒に刺してそのままファウンテンの中でコーティング。楽しかったです。（笑）I loooove chocolate fountains. They made a chocolate souffle in front of us.



そして、ここではその場でチョコレートスフレを作ってくれます。粋なサービスですよね。できたてのスフレにフルールを乗せていただきます。

　
　











クレープシュゼットにトロピカルのフルーツ。

他にアイスクリームのコーナーには８種類くらいのアイス。タイのスイーツなど数えきれないほどのものがあり目移りしてばかり。
でも、それほど人間は食べられるものではないのが悲しいところ。なのでたくさん、目で楽しんできました。There are many different kinds of ice cream. Unfortunately, I can't try all of them, but at least I enjoyed looking at them.
