母はワシントンからの直行便だったので、3日間ワシントンに滞在し、観光をしました。私達にとっては2回目のワシントン。母は、田舎の空気を十分味わったせいかワシントンの人ごみを楽しんでました。それでも、やっぱり・・・リスは大好きみたいで。ワシントンでも公園にリスがいたりするともう大変。話しかけちゃったりして。（笑）もしかしたら、ホワイトハウスよりリスの方がポイントが高いのかも・・・と思いました。
ノースカロライナで、夜、車で３人で帰ってくる時にラッキーにも鹿の親子と遭遇しました。パートナーが最初に気づき母に教えたら、もう大変！「バンビだ！」と興奮冷めやらぬ感じですごく幸せそうでした。私も鹿に出くわすと未だに嬉しい気分はあります。でも、ここで暮らして、大きな庭なんかある人たちにとっては、鹿は大迷惑な動物の１つです。全ての植木を食べてしまうらしいです。策なんかあっても軽々と飛び越してきてしまうらしく。でも、元を正せばそこには昔から鹿が住んでいて森を開拓して人々が住み始めたわけだから、かわいそうなのは鹿かもしれない・・・って思うんですがね。
あ、話しがずれてしまいました。ワシントン。お決まりのコース。ホワイトハウス、リンカーンメモリアルを観光し、ナショナルギャラリーオブアートにも行ってきました。印象派の作品がたくさんあり、またアメリカらしくゆったりと美術館も作られていました。すごいんですよ！
美術館の中の二階にテラスのような感じで庭があったり。この周りには、椅子もあり子守りをしている人もいれば、本を読んでいる人たちもいたりなんとなく美術館だという事を忘れてしまいそうな感じでした。夜は前に行った事のあるお店で食事。私の大好きなオイスターをいただきました。残念な事に、母、パートナーともオイスターには全く興味がないようで私だけが楽しませてもらいました。（笑）
私的にはオイスターだったらいくらでも食べられるのですが今回は自重して６個でやめておきました。ワシントンといえば、ジョージタウンがショッピングでは有名な場所。今回、初めてパートナーと行ってきました。まぁ、日本でいう原宿みたいな感じかな？道の両側にズラーーーーッとお店が並んでいる感じ。特別気に入ったものがなかったので何も買いませんでしたが、楽しかったです。その道になぜか、こんな変わったお家がありました。
石で出来たお家。こういう古いお家にパートナーは大変興味があるようです。このお家の後ろに小さなお庭があっていい感じでした。最終日は母も歩き疲れたせいもあり部屋で食事をしました。ジョージタウンでおいしそうなスペイン料理のお店をみつけパエーリャ、海老のガーリック炒め、サラダ等をテイクアウトしました。
このパエーリャ、思っていた以上に具が多くて大満足の一品でした。オマール海老とかが丸ごと一匹、入っていたり。食べる事が大好きな私達にとってはちょっとした最後の晩餐でした。（笑）
ホテルはとても見晴らしの良い場所にあり、母は朝早く起きては景色を眺めて楽しんでいたようです。
遠くに、モニュメントが見え、飛行機の行き来も見え、そして左側に見えるビルの１階がスポーツジムでした。母は、このスポーツジムにたくさんの人が訪れるらしくその数にびっくり。朝５時ころから、マラソンをした後にジムに通う人、仕事帰りにジムに通う人・・・ととにかく異様なくらいに人の出入りが激しいジムで、すごく興味をそそられたみたいです。ちなみに、母はスポーツ大好きなので、たぶん余計に興味があったのでしょう。
I haven't updated sooooo long time. I was a bit lazy after my mum left. We sent her off to Washington D.C also we had a little sightseeing over there. Of course, we've been to the White House, Lincoln Memorial, National Gallery of Art and George Town.
My mum was so excited about squirrels more than the White House. :-) When she was in North Carolina, she was very lucky to see deer family. There was a small deer and she called as "bambi". Yes, here is rural so no one so excited about them. Especially, people have a big garden and enjoy gardening. They hate deer because they are so naughty to eat plants. But I just wonder who lived first these lands. Long time ago, here would be forests and there would be a lot of animal to live there. Now human needs land to live. Oh well, I am deer lover so I don't mind if I see deer any places. They are so cute.
Oh, I have to back to the subject. We really enjoyed the National Gallery of Art. There are many impressions such as Claude Monet, Auguste Renoir, Van Gogh, Picasso. William Turner and Edgar Degas.
There is a garden at the second floor. (see the photo) It is amazing!! Around the garden, there are some chairs and people read books or took care of children. It was so quiet and they enjoyed that moment with sun shine.
The first night, we've been to seafood restaurant is called "hanks". I love oysters so I couldn't resist to eat them. Unfortunately, my mum and partner were not so interested in them so I ate all of them. Of course, I could eat more, but I didn't.... :-)
My partner and I went to George Town while my mum took rest at the hotel. Goerge Town is very famous shopping area in DC. It looks like Covent Graden or Harajuku. There are lot of small shops. We enjoyed (especially me!) enjoyed window shopping. When we walked town to a street, we found a stone house. It looks very old, but very nice garden behind the house. We also found a Spanish restaurant that looks very nice! so we took away paella, salad and shrimp with garlic. Yes, we had a dinner at our room. It was very yummy that was more than we expected. There are a lot of seafood in the paella.
My mum enjoyed watching scenery from our room. It was quite nice view that you can see monument, airplanes and people. (see the last photo) You can see the white building on the left side and there was a sport gym at the first floor. Many people come to the gym from 5 am to 11 pm. She was so curious what type of people go to the gym at the early morning or late night. Normally, Japanese people like drinking after work... I think smart people like working, exercising and enjoy their life.
