Blue cheese & walnut souffé 

6月はテレビ三昧。ワールドカップサッカー、ウィンブルドンと珍しく昼間からテレビ見っぱなしの私です。ま、こんな事が出来るのもスペイン語のレッスンが9月までお休みだからです。250ページのスペイン語の小説を3ヶ月かけて読んでたんです。内容は面白いと思えるのですが、単語調べとレッスンのスピードについて行くのに本当に必死でした。私の他に4人生徒がいるのですが、70代、60代、50代と30代の生徒です。そして、みんな勉強熱心。特にリタイア組がすごいんです。勉強に年齢は本当に関係ないと思わされる一瞬です。やる気さえあれば、いくつになっても出来る・・・って。だからこのクラスはハードだけど楽しいので続けたいと思ってます。

さて、料理ですが・・・。ブルーチーズとウォールナッツのスフレを作ってみました。スフレは料理番組でも難しそうだったので作りたいと思いながら今まで中々手を出しませんでした。失敗するのも嫌だしね。でも、今日やっと作ってみました。


こんな感じにきちんと膨らんでくれましたぁ〜。美味しかったです。
また近いうちに作ろうと思ってます。でも、まだ慣れないから作りながらアタフタしてます。スフレはやっぱりメレンゲがとても大切。パートナーはメレンゲの達人(笑)なので、彼に確認しながら作りました。



さて、これは何でしょう?これはスペインのスープ。ホワイトガスパッチョ(アホブランコ)とは、アーモンドとガーリックで作ったスープなんです。アンダルシア地方の料理。冷たくして飲むスープで夏に最適。美味しくは出来たのですが・・・。セビーリャのお店で食べた味と比べると何かがかけてるような気・・・。でも、それがまだ何なのか見つけられないのです。作りながら改良していこうと思ってます。

Well... finally my Spanish course finished. In the course, we have 4 more students who are very keen on studying. they are senior than me, but they are very energetic to learn Spanish. Sometimes, people become old, they start making excuses. such as " I can't do it, because I am -- years old". I can feel it wold be difficult to remember or do exercises etc..., but it depends on how much you want to do. Since I studied Spanish with them, I always feel good energy from them. I think it doesn't matter how old you are. If you are interested in something, you can start new things anytime. I don't want to complain anything before I start. If you don't try it, you would never know what is waiting for you. Anyway, we've read a Spanish novel is " Like water for Chocolate
". Each chapter mentioned about traditional Mexican recipe and it was really fun, but I have many problems of vocabularies so I have to look up dictionary tons of times. Spanish and English come from same route so native English speaker can guess words more than I can. If I can't guess, of course I have to look it up and if I don't understand the meaning of English, I have to look up Japanese dictionary. I was so hard to keep up the lesson. We've read 250 pages for 3 months. I was the worst students in my class, but I had nice students who helped me a lot. I would like to be a little better in the next term.

I made Blue cheese and walnut soufflé. I knew soufflé is a bit tricky dish so I was a bit afraid of making it. Meringue is the most important part. My partner is known well of making Meringue. So when I beat them, I asked him if it is OK or not. :-) He gave me advices and finally I made nice soufflé. I would like to make them again.

Also I cooked Ajo blanco - White gaspacho - is made of almonds and garlic. This dish comes from Andalucia. This is cool dish so it's good for summer.
